Paint with me at Berkhamsted Art Fair

Head to Berkhamsted Art Fair on Saturday 11 May, grab a paintbrush*, and help me cover a canvas with colour! Then sit back as I turn it into a still life. Bring your kids – it will be lots of fun!

This hands-on demo starts at midday in the foyer of Berkhamsted Civic Centre.

Come along to enjoy all the fantastic art, ceramics and glass work. It’s a brilliant way to buy from local artists!

My studio is littered with failed abstracts. "What do you mean by failed?" I hear you cry! For me, 'failed' means 'can't get excited by'. The best feeling is when I look at a painting and think "I can't believe I did that!" Am I happy to have had an unexpected few hours to paint today? Very! Did I think I'd be able to turn 3 different photos, taken in 3 totally different locations, into one cohesive composition? No way. Can I bring myself to repaint L's right eye so it's level with her left? Not today. If you've been thinking of buying one of my paintings, would one of these little fellas look lovely on your wall? They're 20cm x 20cm boards (I've laid them on a frame as a serving suggestion 🤩) and are £40. I put as much love and care into them as my bigger pictures ♥ Many years ago I auditioned to be The Big Breakfast's weather presenter - and totally fell to pieces. I'm not exaggerating. I forgot how to speak. The main points we had to cover were on a sheet on the wall and I even forgot how to read. I was A MESS. And finally, in case you don't know me in real life and are tuning in to @radiodacorum, here's the face that will be making some of the noises. Hopefully some of them will even be fully formed sentences. Lovely to meet you! And here's another painting I'll be taking along to @radiodacorum when I'll be a guest on Leslie Stuart Tate's show. I chose this one because not only was it fun to make, but I'll be asking visitors at Berkhamsted Art Fair to help me create a new painting using the same techniques. It will be loads of fun!
